Virtualwind is very excited to announce the release of Virtualwind 2.0.02. This release contains a number of significant functionality enhancements over the previous versions, as well as fixes to several defects. Some highlights of 2.0.02 include:
- The Data Assembling process has been rewritten to greatly improve completion times. A typical Study will see overall simulation times decrease by roughly a factor of two; worst-case studies may see even more dramatic decreases. These speed-ups will mostly affect simulations that are run on multiple CPUs (i.e. using the Pro version).
- The inclusion of the Visualization Tree when you select Save Study. This feature was requested most often by users of the previous versions. Our users spoke . . . and we listened!
- Enhancements to the Import STL feature. This includes configurability options, feedback to the user and improvements to the STL-to-Virtualwind conversion algorithm to ensure that Virtualwind responsiveness stays high.
- More informative feedback (progress estimates, warnings, etc.). When a simulation is initially submitted, and during the running of the simulation, regular updates of estimated time to completion are now easier to find.
- A number of ease-of-use enhancements. For example, the program now automatically creates a Domain Wind Monitor when an Atmospheric Condition is created. In the previous version, the user was responsible for creating a wind monitor, and if this step was missed an entire simulation could be run with no wind data being recorded.
To see what has changed since the previous version, consult the Release Notes PDF. The complete list of enhancements and maintenance fixes will also be displayed when you install Virtualwind 2.0.02; it will also be available through the software itself (in the Help Menu, then "Release Notes").
Upgrading to Virtualwind 2.0.02 is free to anyone who has purchased a license to 2.0 or 2.0.01, but you will need to perform some steps to migrate your license files. If you have not purchased a license, but downloaded a previous version of the Free Trial, you can upgrade your trial version to 2.0.02. Instructions for migrating a purchased license or upgrading a trial version can be found on the "Downloads" page.
